A drug dealer who was caught with a stash of ketamine has escaped an immediate jail sentence after a court heard how she has changed her ways.

Rachel Ellis was arrested in October 2013 after police raided her home in Spilsby and 71.5g of ketamine.

James Bide-Thomas, prosecuting, told Lincoln Crown Court that a set of digital scales, dealer bags and £310 cash were also found on the premises.

He said “A mobile phone was seized. That had text messages on it, both incoming and outgoing, related to the supply of ketamine.”

The court was told that the ketamine had a street sale value of around £1,440.

Ellis, 26, of Magellan Drive, Spilsby, admitted charges of possession of drugs with intent to supply and possession on 11 October 2013.

Mark Watson, defending, said Ellis has since turned her back on drugs and now has a different lifestyle.

He said “She has split from her husband and they are in the process of getting divorced.

“She was pregnant at the point of her arrest although that was unknown to her at the time.

“She has since had a child and has set up her own decorating business. She has made every effort to better her position. She has moved on significantly from where she was two years ago.”

Yesterday (Monday) Ellis was given a six month jail sentence suspended for 18 months with 12 months supervision.
