POLICE in Alford have appealed for information after a man was hit with a ‘crowbar’ during a late night burglary.

The 39-year-old man suffered head injuries and needed hospital treatment after he was assaulted by two people during the robbery in a shop in West Street on Sunday, October 16.

The offenders entered the residential area of the shop at around 2.30am and threatened and then assaulted the man .

A police spokesperson said the weapon was a “blunt instrument, possibly a crowbar type tool”.

They added: “During the robbery, some distinctive items were taken, including an ACER Laptop, a Nokia Silver mobile phone and a man’s wallet.

“The phone has a keyboard with Thai lettering on the keys but is useable in England. The man’s wallet is made from fish skin.”

The offenders were seen leaving the address at 2.36am and running along West Street towards the Half Moon and then down an alleyway.

A vehicle was seen on CCTV leaving the area two minutes later. The car is very similar to a Peugeot 405, possibly in dark red.

It drove off towards the Willoughby Road area.

Police have tentatively linked the crime to an attempted burglary at Ulceby Cross Garage roughly 20 to 30 minutes earlier that evening.
