POLICE have launched a major investigation after a criminal gang stole up to £50,000 in a raid on a Skegness nightclub.
Three men targeted the LA Cafe in Grand Parade in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday morning - in what police believe was a “well-planned and timed” burglary.
The trio arrived at the premises in a dark grey or gold Fiat Doblo shortly after 5am and, after forcing a rear door, they removed the safes containing a significant amount of cash.
It is understood that the amount stolen runs into tens of thousands of pounds, but is less than £50,000.
The theft was caught on CCTV outside the nightclub, and police have now released images of the crime in a bid trace the Fiat and its occupants.
DC St Quinton, from Skegness CID, said, “This was a well planned burglary, timed to achieve maximum gains due to the busy bank holiday weekend.
“The vehicle used is not an obvious choice and is a high-roofed car normally used by disabled people to provide easy wheelchair access.
“This is not a common vehicle to be seen in Skegness and we are appealing to anybody that has seen the Fiat Doblo in Skegness, either in the immediate vicinity of the LA Café venue, or anywhere in the area, especially if the occupants were three young people”.
