Police hunting for missing OAP Mary Scott have confirmed that they have found the body of a woman.
The body was discovered near Market Rasen this afternoon (Monday).
But officers have said that they are currently “unable to confirm” if the body is that of Mary.
A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the body of a woman was found at about 1.30pm today on land in the Sixhills area, near Market Rasen.
“At this stage officers are unable to confirm that the body is that of missing person, Marion, or Mary Scott.”
Mary, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, went missing on Thursday, December 27 from her home in Market Rasen.
She is described as around 5ft 4in tall, of slight build with short black hair. She was wearing brown cord trousers, grey slip-on shoes and a green top. It is thought she was also wearing a pink jacket when she went missing.
Officers, police dog teams, police support units, Louth Rescue Dogs and other volunteer services have been searching on foot and in 4x4 vehicles for any trace of Mary.
They also carried out an extensive leaflet and poster drop across the district earlier this week in a bid to trace any witnesses who may have seen her after she left her home.
