A MUCH used community hub in need of vital repairs has received a helping hand in the form of a financial grant from a local councillor.
Coun Neil Cooper has donated £800 to Burgh-le-Marsh Village Hall and Community Complex for it to carry out essential repairs to its damaged roof.
The donation, made through the Councillors’ Community Initiative scheme, will go towards the overall repair costs totalling £2,000.
Village hall chairman John Atkinson has welcomed the financial contribution, which will help enable the many community groups to continue using the space.
He said: “Burgh Village Hall is used virtually every hour of the day and the repairs were desperately needed to be done.
“The £800 was very, very welcome and that Coun Cooper was able to give us this was a godsend.”
The hall, which is nearly 40 years old, is used by a variety of groups including the NHS, a weekly luncheon club for elderley people, sports and keep fit classes and day care for children.
