Consultation on '˜maternity hubs'

NHS staff, patients and families are being asked for their views on developing community hubs for maternity.

The hubs could be located in children’s centres where women could access elements of their care, including midwifery, obstetrics and other services such as ultrasound, health visitors, mental health services, smoking cessation and weight reduction.

Chairman of the Local Maternity System Board for Lincolnshire and Chief Nurse for the Lincolnshire East Clinical Commissioning Group, Tracy Pilcher, said: “Our vision is that maternity services should be safe, personalised, kind, professional and family friendly.

“Every woman should have access to information to make informed decisions and be able to access support centred on individual needs and circumstances.”

The survey, run by the Lincs East CCG, has two versions; one aimed at service users and their familes, and one aimed at staff - specifically midwives, obstetricians, health visitors or staff working in a children’s centre.
