The Bishop of Richborough, the Right Reverend Norman Banks, visited Burgh Church recently to conduct a confirmation. The congregation numbered more than 100.

He is pictured here with the seven candidates he confirmed in the parish church of St Peter and Paul Burgh le Marsh. Also pictured is Father Terry Steele and his dog Archie. In the evening Bishop Norman returned and during Evensong the Bishop of Lincoln, the Right Reverend Christopher Lowson, licensed Bishop Norman as assistant bishop in the Diocese of Lincoln. The service was conducted by Father Terry and the Bishop of Lincoln preached the sermon. The bells were rung before both services and the choir sang an anthem.
