Putting his best foot forward, Tony Bailey, of Spilsby-based Evercreatures, is hoping to break into the American market with the firm’s funky pairs of wellies, flip-flops and espadrilles.
Since the buzz on social media that the company will be taking its colourful and unique products over to the States, two American boutiques have already signed up as customers for the brand.
Sales director Tony said: “It’s a really exciting time for us. We already stock in garden centres and country stores in the UK and beyond, with agents in Holland, Austria, Germany and Switzerland but as yet, we do not do anything in America.”
With designs ranging from polka dots, to zebra prints and funky chickens, he said: “We do particularly well at festival time, around Christmas and we have some red wellies for Valentine’s. Our most popular design is the ‘rainbow’.”
The firm, located on the Vale Road Industrial Estate, will be exhibiting at the FN Platform, which is the global showcase for branded footwear at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, with more than 1,600 brands from some 20 countries on display.
Evercreatures is taking part in conjunction with the British Footwear Association and the UK Trade & Investment (UKti).
Tony will be joined by the firm’s managing director Gilles Mangin, who is flying in to Vegas from his home in China.
He added: “We’re taking about 25 pairs of stocked wellies over with us, plus another 15 new ones, six kids’ wellies, flip-flops, the espadrilles and welly socks. We attended a similar event in Germany last year and signed quite a few accounts.”
Besides wellies and other footwear, Tony says he hopes to take time to enjoy some of the sights outside of the three-day event.
“There may be some gambling. I’ll be looking forward to staying in a nice hotel, eating some good food and having a look around,” he said.
