A council revamp of the Lawn car park in Skegness has been completed to help improve the Skegness shopping experience for motorists.

The car park, situated to the rear of the Hildreds Centre, has undergone a two week revamp, including complete resurfacing.

The disabled bays have been re-designed with added transfer space to allow better access to the kerbside.

Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Councillor Steve O’Dare, said: “The revamp of the Lawn car park has greatly improved its look and layout. The surface was in generally poor condition and needed to be resurfaced anyway, so we took the opportunity to have a look at how we could make the placement of the car parking bays more convenient for all motorists, including the better positioning of the 16 disabled bays.”

“This coupled with our revised parking permit scheme and ability to pay for parking by mobile phone helps to make parking in District Council-run car parks cheaper and easier for motorists to use.”

The work was carried out over two weeks, in two phases, so that the car park could remain open throughout, minimising disruption to motorists.

The work has now been completed with the car park open as normal, in time for the Easter holidays, traditionally a busy time for Skegness.
