Trees planted in memory of members

Father Terry Bardell joined members of the Tuesday Club and Chapel St Leonards WI to plant a fine row of cherry blossom trees in front of the village hall.

They were planted in memory of all past members of the Tuesday Club.

Club secretary Christine Young said: “We are very grateful to Father Terry for his blessing of the trees as a fitting memory to all our former members.

“We often reflect on things past and remember fondly the people who are no longer with us. These trees create a lasting memory of our loved ones.”

WI members Anne Laxton and Rose Jackson also joined Father Terry to commemorate 100 years of the WI.

Mrs Laxton said: “The WI has been inspiring women for over 100 years and we are pleased to commemorate this in the planting of this beautiful tree.” Barry Mulaly, a member of the village hall committee, sponsored one of the trees in memory of his late parents.
