Skegness Fire Station will hold a fire cadet open evening on Monday, June 2.
The event will begin at 7pm and the station will be showcasing what the Skegness Fire Cadets have been learning since the venture started up in December 2012.
Fire cadets aged between 13-16 years old were recruited as part of an initiative by the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue’s youth engagement team.
The program offers young people the opportunity to work alongside local firefighters to gain new skills such as first aid training, ladder rescues, fire extinguisher training and team-working skills.
The fire cadets train for two hours, once a week, on Monday evenings.
They have also been lucky enough to attend training days held at the station, which included learning about road safety awareness, breathing apparatus and firefighter skills.
The aim of the Skegness Fire Cadets is to provide a uniformed youth organisation, associated with aspiring to the inherent qualities of the Fire and Rescue Service.
Fire cadets have been involved with several charity events and are always looking to get involved with the local community as much as possible.
