Lincolnshire County Council say a new service will make it easier for people with social care needs to find and employ support best matched to them.
Residents who manage their own care through Direct Payments can fund a Personal Assistant, but finding the right one for their particular requirements could previously be a challenging and time-consuming process, they said.
The free Lincolnshire Personal Assistant Finder website is said to make it simpler to connect with the best person for the job, whether that’s helping them wash and dress, accompanying them on errands or offering other assistance.
The service, currently being piloted, is commissioned by Lincolnshire County Council as part of the Direct Payment Support Service provided by Penderels Trust.
Richard Collins, head of commissioning at the county council, said: “Finding the right Personal Assistant can be challenging, but this new, online service will make the process much easier, both for those wishing to employ assistants and for Personal Assistants looking for work.”
“Lincolnshire residents looking to employ someone can search the online register of profiles for characteristics such as skills and experience, where their potential assistant is based and whether or not they can drive. They can then contact potential candidates and invite them for interview,” he added.
For those without internet access, the service is also available by phone.
