This year, Macmillan Cancer Support hopes to see more support than ever for their ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ event.

Last September, this event raised over £20m across the UK thanks to local supporters and their enthusiasm for this much loved charity.

This year the charity is delighted at the fantastic local response, but is hoping even more people will sign up to take part in the event.

The official event day is Friday, September 26, but Macmillan says it is happy for people to hold their coffee morning on a day that suits them.

As a reward to loyal supporters and new participants alike, Macmillan have teamed up locally with The Pastry Room, from Elsham, North Lincolnshire, to create easy bake butter scone kits to give away. The kits consist of enough scone mix to make 100 scones, along with jam and clotted cream to accompany them. Keen bakers just need to add milk and eggs.

Macmillan’s fundraising manager in Lincolnshire, Jamie Davenport said: “We are really grateful to everyone who has signed up to hold a coffee morning for Macmillan so far, and I would encourage local support of this event wherever possible. There is still time to sign up if you would like to help support the event this year and to push for even more vital funds for those affected by cancer.”

“I am thrilled to have the support of the guys at The Pastry Room, and the kit’s they have donated are fantastic. This will be a great reward for people who want to raise even more money for Macmillan this year, and could take a lot of pressure off preparation times for their coffee morning.”

The Pastry Room are giving away 10 of these kits to Lincolnshire ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ registered organisers, and welcome applications up to midday on Friday, September 19.

Simply email jdavenport@macmillan.org.uk and state ‘I would like the scone kit because....’ The responses will be judged by Macmillan and The Pastry Room, and successful supporters will be notified by the end of the day. Please include name and address with any responses.

The Pastry Room managing director John Hendy, said: “We are delighted to be working with Macmillan and helping with the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.  We believe we have a natural fit with our quick to prepare scones.  We only launched our butter scones in spring and created a Macmillan scone kit specifically for the event at the end of September. With sales increasing nationally and being based in Lincolnshire, it was also particularly important for us to put something back into the Lincolnshire community.”
