A number of free events have been organised for community groups in East Lindsey from the Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Services team.
They offer a ‘packed programme of free workshops and training events which should have something for everyone.
Adam Dixon, Community Development Officer said:“The events we are holding during March give community groups, from craft clubs to village halls the opportunity to learn new skills, make the most of social media, and apply for funding online with more confidence. They also give people the opportunity to network and build relationships with other groups, maybe even work on joint projects.”
There will be a Social Media Master Class on Wednesday, March 19, starting at 2pm at the New Life Centre Spilsby.
Organisers said: “Love it or loathe it, social media such as Facebook and Twitter is a fast, free way of getting information out there.
This free two-hour session will help you understand how your community group can get the most from social media, and give you the tools and confidence to have a go.”
A funding online course will also take place, with most applications now online; the morning session will explain wahat funders are looking for when you apply.
You will then have the opportunity to work on your own online application during the afternoon, with advice and help from LCVS’ Community Development Officers.
This event is being run twice, on Thursday March 20, at the Coastal Centre, Mablethorpe and Monday, March 24 at Irby and Bratoft Village Hall; both venues have computer suites, but people are welcome to bring their own laptops along if they wish.
A DBS Checks free training couse will help community groups to have a clear picture of who needs these checks, what’s involved and what they mean to volunteers and service users.
This event is being run twice on Tuesday, March 25 at the New Life Centre, Spilsby from 10am till noon and the Coastal Centre, Mablethorpe on Monday, March 24.
The events are free and open to anyone who is involved with their community.
