The Lincolnshire Co-op is urging clubs, groups and local initiatives to apply for a slice of the firm’s community grant cash.

From support groups and patients’ associations to breakfast clubs and healthy eating initiatives; groups with a connection to health are being encouraged to apply to benefit from a fundraising scheme.

Lincolnshire Co-op’s Community Champions initiative sees thousands of pounds given away every three months to local charities and good causes.

And in the round from March to June 2014, the company wants every one of the 81 Community Champions raising funds to be a health-related community group or charity.

Member Engagement Manager Richard Whittaker said: “Groups just have to fill out a short form and if they’re chosen, they’ll be able to raise hundreds of pounds.”

“The more our members shop in our outlets, the more the Community Champions raise, so if a charity or group rallies their supporters the total could be even more.”

Groups who want to be a Community Champion from March to June 2014 need to apply by Friday, December 20. Go to www.lincolnshire.coop/communitychampions or pick up a form in your nearest store.
