COLUMN: Looking back on an exciting few months in community health in the Skegness area

Have your say

This week’s guest column comes from Simon Temple, head of clinical services for the East region at Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust ...

Its been a very busy and exciting few months through the peak of the summer season for community health services in Skegness.

At Skegness Hospital, we’ve introduced the out-of-hours service into the Urgent
Care Centre, while in the community, Skegness is host to one of four pilot sites across Lincolnshire for neighbourhood teams.

These service developments have been shaped by and with you, our community. We use the feedback you give us everyday through a variety of ways, including your experiences in compliments and complaints, patient surveys and our Friends and Family Test.

We appreciate understanding the health service can be difficult at times, but we – Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust - also work with other organisations, such as the clinical commissioning groups and other NHS trusts to shape healthcare to ensure services are effective and complement your needs.

The introduction of out-of-hours at Skegness Hospital brings to life a proposal strongly supported by the public in the Shaping Health for Skegness

Neighbourhood teams are part of the Lincolnshire Health and Care programme, which is looking to design better ways of providing essential health and social care services in the county.

Each team will include professionals from a wide range of services – from social care and community nurses to GPs and therapists. The aim is to bring together professionals from different bodies to create a single team devoted to their community.

They will ensure the right services are delivered at the right time and ensure patients who have to go into hospital have the right support in place when they are

Later this month, we will be hosting our annual staff awards and annual public meeting.

It will take place at The Showroom on Tritton Road, Lincoln, on Wednesday, September 24, with doors opening from noon.

The whole afternoon is a celebration of all the amazing things our staff do every day.

If you are able to join us, please come and see what we are all about.
