The Big Summer Beach Clean-Up organised by the community group Coastal Access For All (CAFA) went ahead successfully on Saturday, July 19, despite threats of heavy downpours.
Sea View Walk saw groups from the Skegness division of the Army Cadets and a good turnout led by Pastor David Middleton from the Storehouse Church.
Sand build-ups were cleared from the walkways whilst others removed litter from the beach.
In Winthorpe, a smaller group of locals and caravan owners than expected turned up, due to the weather.
However, the group set off from The View Pub to walk alongside Miners walk to the Boathouse Pub, just before Butlins.
Despite their smaller number, the volunteers recovered a large quantity of litter from the beach, including pieces of wood with nails and screws protruding from them, which could have done great harm to a child.
Paul Marshall, CAFA group leader said: “The beaches are now a lot safer and cleaner thanks to all the volunteers.”
