Dozens of steam engines, classic cars and vintage vehicles will descend on Skegness this summer for one of the ‘most spectacular non-sporting events’ in the calendar.
Skegness Carnival Committee (SCC) has confirmed the Seaside Steam and Classic Car Show will take place on the weekend of July 27 and 28.
Announcing the news to business representatives at a recent breakfast meeting, chairman Kris Bell said: “Skegness will play host to steam engines of all shapes and sizes, trade stalls, memorabilia and photographers - it’s going to be a fantastic event.
“Classic, veteran, custom and vintage - they will all be invited to join us for this bumper weekend that will be an absolutely fantastic opportunity to get involved.”
The event had been provisionally scheduled for the first weekend in May but due to issues with the date had to be postponed.
The new event forms part of SCC’s ongoing efforts to improve and expand the town’s programme of events to attract more visitors and boost its tourist economy.
Mr Bell said: “SCC are putting events outside the normal calendar to make an effort to bring people in throughout the year.
“We’ve now got events from March until December and we are still adding more,” he continued.
More details are to be announced in the coming weeks and months.
