A charity event organised by a Skegness couple, inspired by challenges and losses they have had to overcome, has been deemed a success.

Barry and Pam Ormrod held the charity gala cabaret evening at The Crown Hotel, in Drummond Road, Skegness, last Saturday, in aid of the Stroke Assocation and Macmillan Cancer Care.

The inspiration for the event came from the couple’s lives, with Pam suffering two strokes last year and both having lost loved ones to cancer.

Barry said: “The event went really well, everyone had a really good time. We even got asked when we’re organising the next one. We raised just short of £400 and raised the profile of both the Stroke Association and Macmillan which is the main point.”
