A group of skilful bridge players from all over the east of Lincolnshire gathered to play a game while raising money for the RNLI recently.

The event was held at the North Shore Hotel this month. Everyone enjoyed a great day out, meeting with old friends while playing a sociable game of bridge and enjoying a delicious meal.

“A thoroughly good time was had by all and Gertie [Eley] expressed her thanks to the North Shore Hotel for providing such an excellent lunch and venue, to the local businesses for their generosity in providing prizes and to all the bridge players for supporting the event,” said a spokesperson.

The main event was won by Kathleen Windsor and Lilian Evans playing North/South and Mary Howard and Pam Townsend playing East/West. The beginners’ section was won by Perla Clark and Dinah Linge.

Prizes were presented by the event organiser, Gertie Eley, who also handed over a cheque for £517 to Mark Holley on behalf of the RNLI.

The raffle prizes and event prizes were donated by local Skegness businesses and by the players.
