Carer support group to launch

A new support group for Alzheimer’s sufferers and their carers opens in Chapel St Leonards next month.

Former care worker Teresa Tansley was inspired to create The Alzheimer’s Group of Chapel St Leonards after learning just how many sufferers there are in the village.

Following a fundraiser held in aid of the Alzhiemer’s Society during National Dementia Awareness Week, Teresa felt there was need for a regular support facility to help the many carers in the village.

The group’s first meeting takes place on Tuesday, July 2, at the Village Hall, from 9am to noon and will meet at the same time each week thereafter.

Coun Hazel Newcombe has donated to cover the venue hire and Coun Phil Leivers has also supported.
