A building society is closing two of its branches in Alford and Sutton on Sea.
The Newcastle Building Society has announced its withdrawal the branches it shared with local solicitors Wilkin Chapman Grange from tomorrow (Monday) as part of a national move to close all offices outside its north east heartland.
The solicitors firm has expressed its disappointed with the decision and said hopes to set up a partnership with a new building society.
“We have enjoyed a successful working relationship with the Newcastle Building Society for over two years,” said one of the firm’s resident partners, Richard Houltby.
“We will continue to look for another building society agency and hope that our search will be successful.
“We are aware that many local people prefer to deal with an individual face to face and carry out their transactions in person using a passbook.”
Wilkin Chapman Grange will remain open as normal.
