The deadline for entries for the inaugural East Lindsey Business Awards has been extended.

The closing date is now Friday, March 31, giving businesses an extra two weeks to get themselves in the running for an honour.

The event is being held in May by East Lindsey District Council (ELDC).

Johnston Press – the company that publishes the Skegnesss Standard – is the media partner and Hyprotect the main sponsor.

Having featured seven of the nine awards set to be handed out on the evening in the paper over the past few weeks, here we throw the spotlight on the final two ...

The Exporter of the Year recognises a business which has excelled in exporting over the past year.

It is open to businesses of any age, but judges will be looking for those that are able to demonstrate growth in overseas trading and have a proactive approach to their work.

The Young Entrepreneur award recognises a young business person who is able to find new and innovative solutions to business problems and/or establish new products and services.

This is awarded to a person aged 18-30, running a business within East Lindsey who has demonstrated outstanding business success over the past year.

Nominees need to demonstrate how they have shown an entrepreneurial spirit and how they aspire to be among the next generation of business leaders, transform the face of industry, create more jobs and contribute to the local economy.

The two awards do not as yet have a sponsor.

To come forward as a sponsor, email ELBA@e-lindsey.gov.uk or call Nadine Must on 01507 613110.

Shelton Sportsturf Drainage, however, is an associate sponsor for the awards as a whole.

The global business, based in Baumber, near Horncastle, designs and manufactures specialist drainage machinery for the sportsturf and agricultural market.

Its output is engineered to maximise the efficiency of drainage systems and minimise the disruption of installation.

As a result, and unlike some more traditional drainage methods, Shelton’s machinery and drainage techniques leave minimal impact on the surface.

Its machines are sold all over the world and the overseas business is growing quickly in more than 20 countries.

HOW TO NOMINATE A BUSINESS

There are seven other categories to enter in the awards: Excellence in Manufacturing, Excellence in Digital Innovation, Visitor Attraction of the Year, Independent Retailer of the Year, Food Business of the Year, New Business of the Year, and Best Place to Eat.

Alongside the awards, ELDC is organising a Celebrating Business Excellence in East Lindsey Expo.

The expo aims to raise the profile of East Lindsey businesses and will provide a platform for the 27 finalists and all the sponsors to showcase their products/services and highlight possible employment and training opportunities.

It will take place at the Kenwick Park Hotel, in Louth, from 10am to 3pm on Friday, May 19, with the awards following at 7pm.
