A SPILSBY ice cream flavour is to be rolled out across all of the county’s 74 Lincolnshire Co-operative stores after it proved a big bit with customers in a competition.
More than 18,000 people voted for their favourite flavours at the Lincs Co-op this summer and to celebrate Lincolnshire Day two new local products will hit the shelves.
During the summer Lincolnshire Co-op took its Tastes on Tour exhibition around the county sampling popular local treats Piper’s crisps and Dennetts ice cream.
People had the chance to try two flavours of each and then pick their winner in a bid to see it on the shelves of their local store.
aspberry Pavlova ice cream, whipped up by Dennetts in Spilsby, scooped the top spot ahead of Tutti Frutti, while Wissington Spicy Tomato from Piper’s crisps made in Brigg, fought off Karnataka Black Pepper to claim the crisp title.
Both flavours will now be sold in all 74 Lincolnshire Co-op Foodstores from October 1.
Membership and Community Assistant Manager Richard Whittaker said: “People loved the fruity flavour and crunchy meringue of Dennetts Raspberry Pavlova, handmade by the family firm in Spilsby.”
