Visitor guides promoting Skegness and Mablethorpe have enjoyed their best ever uptake, tourism representatives have said.
The 2013 Visitor Guides for Skegness, Mablethorpe and the Lincolnshire Wolds are reported to be doing ‘very, very well this year’.
Skegness East Coast and Wolds Hoteliers Association chairman Nigel Tett said: “We’d had as many requests by last week as we did for the whole of last season.”
Reporting the success to Skegness and District Chamber of Commerce, Mr Tett said that extra copies of the guide would be required despite 10,000 having already been printed on top of the initial 60,000 to cater for new markets in the West Midlands.
Earlier this year, East Lindsey District Council, which produced the guides in partnership with SECHWA, launched its first bus advertising campaign in the West Midlands, capitalising on better transport links with the region.
“Around 25 per cent of my rooms went to people with West Midland accents,” said Mr Tett.
“It shows it’s working.”
