Skegness passengers assured of ‘minimal disruption and inconvenience’ during major rail works this summer

Passengers travelling between Skegness and Nottingham during six weeks of major rail improvement works this summer have been assured ‘minimal disruption and inconvenience.’

East Midlands Trains claims to be working to ‘deliver the best possible timetable’ during Network Rail’s £100 million works improving rail infrastructure around Nottingham.

Although the rail operator expects the works will have a ‘significant affect’ on services between July 20 and August 26 it has assured passengers that for three of the six weeks, direct trains will continue running between Skegness and Nottingham.

And at all other times bus services will operate between Nottingham and Grantham, connecting with rail services to and from Skegness.

A spokesperson said: “We are working closely with Network Rail to deliver the best possible timetable during this time and to minimise the disruption and inconvenience for passengers.”

East Midlands Trains also says it has been in close contact with local authorities and tourism bodies in Skegness regarding its plans.

A major communications campaign will launch to inform passengers of the revised timetable as soon as it is finalised.
