Seaside chalets hoped to boost Ingoldmells’ appeal
Hallmark Sundecks' Cabana seaside chalet.
A coastal businessman hopes to make Ingoldmells the envy of British seaside resorts when he develops a range of luxury beach chalets there this summer.
Simon Adderley, the owner of Joe’s Beach Bar, has applied for permission to build 10 ‘beautifully crafted’ seaside chalets along the Ingoldmells coast, with scope to develop a further 200, subject to demand.
He said: “I’ve always wanted to develop chalets on the site ever since I bought Joe’s eight years ago because its magnificent sea-views and all-day sunshine make it the most perfect location.
“It will have a dramatic affect on the Ingoldmells skyline, creating a very strong identity, enhancing the visual appeal and raising the resort’s profile.
“We intend these to be the best chalets along the British coastline, offering the traditional seaside experience with a 21st century product.”

Burgh le Marsh based Hallmark Sundecks describes its Cabana range of double glazed, power ready, low maintenance chalets as ‘a perfect seaside retreat’.
Mr Adderley envisages many of the £15,000 models will be bought by other tourist operators to complement their visitor offer.
With flood risk fears restricting coastal development, he believes the chalets will enable caravan operators further inland to still provide their guests with a seaside getaway.
“People will be able to buy a caravan away from the coast and still enjoy the seaside in all weather,” he said.
Work has already begun on a show chalet 75 metres north of Joe’s and if planning permission is approved, Mr Adderely says they could stretch all the way up to Coastfields Leisure.
