Scarborough-based bakery Coopland & Son’s plans to revamp empty Alford shop okayed

Plans by Scarborough-based bakery firm Coopland & Son Ltd to revamp an empty shop in Alford were welcomed at an East Lindsey planning meeting.

Members voted unanimously to grant listed building consent for a new shop front and replacement window to be installed on the ground floor of 15 Market Place in the town.

Coun Hazel Newcombe declared: “This is a massive investment which will restore life to the property and bring revenue into Alford.”

Coun Jill Makinson-Sanders claimed that the lettering and colouring of Coopland’s shop in Louth was “dreary”, but this view was challenged by committee chairman Coun Neil Cooper.
