Record-breaking visit numbers at Gunby Hall
Gunby Hall.
Gunby Hall had a record breaking 16,000 visitors in 2012, the National Trust has revealed.
The charity has praised the hard work of the hall’s army of volunteers for the success.
And it has unveiled plans for ‘much extended’ opening hours this year.
To do that, the trust has launched an appeal for further volunteers to join its dedicated band ahead of the 2013 season.
“We have a friendly team of local people of all ages and from all walks of life,” said the house’s manager, Astrid Gatenby. “But we need to boost our volunteer numbers to keep up with demand.
“We used to only be open twice a week from 2pm to 5pm, but in 2013 during the high season we will be opening our doors for four days from 11am to 5pm, a fourfold increase in hours!
“We have 60 room guides, but will need at least 25 more to give our visitors the best possible welcome.
“The minimum commitment is one shift (three hours) every fortnight, but more hours are always appreciated. Travel expenses and other benefits are also provided.
“It is a great opportunity to meet new people, learn skills and to become involved in one of the most beautiful places in Lincolnshire,” Astrid added.
Room Guides need to be over 18 and have access to email. They are also recruiting volunteer piano players, admission volunteers and volunteer catering assistants to help in the popular tea-room.
Call Astrid Gatenby on 01754 890102 for details.
