The Post Office in the heart of Skegness has confirmed that it is to move into Beales Department Store - ending weeks of speculation.
The business has been looking for a new home for its central Skegness site ever since it announced earlier this year that it would vacate the Co-op in the Hildreds by the end of 2012.
That search took on an increasingly urgent dimension last week after the Co-op announced it too would be closing at the end of December with the loss of 39 jobs.
At the time no announcement had yet been made over an alternate location for the Post Office, even though rumour suggested Beales as the likely site.
But a spokesperson for the Post Office has now stepped forward to confirm the service will move to Beales.
“Following the Co-op’s decision to close the store on December 29, Post Office can confirm that it will be moving to Beales and is planning to open at the new site on January 2,” said a spokesperson.
However, the Post Office has not yet confirmed if the service will run from the second floor as rumoured.
