Almost 400 jobs, including at least four in Spilsby, have been lost after a coach operator went into administration,
Bowen Travel, which owns Applebys Coach Holidays has gone into administration due to a ‘serious cash flow crisis’.
The travel agents on Spilsby High Street was one of many local branches to have shut late last week. The Mayor of Spilsby has expressed his condolences to the staff that lost their jobs but expressed high hopes that a new business would soon fill the empty shop. He said: “It is a very sad day - again it is indicative of the current financial climate. Unfortunately the employees knew nothing about this until last Thursday when they were summoned to a meeting.
“It tends to be when one shop closes it’s only a couple of months before something else takes over the vacant shop, and that always gets my admiration.”
The Association of British Travel Agents has confirmed that customers’ bookings would be protected under the CPT bonding scheme.
