Our town may have been left out of Lonely Planet, but Skegness Pier has been recognised as a top attraction by one of the world’s largest travel websites – TripAdvisor.

The pier and two of its entertainment venues Skegness Bowl and Laserquest won TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Awards.

The award celebrating excellence in tourism and hospitality is based on outstanding customer reviews.

Winners include outstanding accommodation providers, eateries and visitor attractions across the world.

Skegness Pier director Carolyn Wilkinson said: “We as a team here at Skegness Pier feel very proud that we have received this certificate of excellence and we would like to thank all our customers who took the time to complete a review on TripAdvisor.

She added: “It is marvellous to be recognised in this way by our customers.

“With the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence based on customer reviews, the accolade is a remarkable vote of confidence to our business and our continued commitment to excellence.”

Award winners are based on the quality and quantity customer reviews on TripAdvisor as well as time and ranking on the website’s popularity index.
