A Government scheme has helped unemployed people set up 120 businesses in Louth and Horncastle in under four years.

The New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) scheme has also enabled 200 people in the constituency to work with a business mentor to develop their business ideas since starting in April 2011.

Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Louth and Horncastle Victoria Atkins said: “The NEA has been a real success in Louth & Horncastle helping people off benefits and to start their own business.”

“We are backing those who have a business idea that can work and the can-do attitude to make it a success.

“We have real success stories in our local economy. Last week, I joined Luxus Ltd in Louth in celebrating its 50th anniversary. This UK-leading business employs 156 people and has contributed up to £800million to the local economy. I hope that the 120 new businesses created in the constituency will, in time, celebrate 50 years’ of success, too.”
