An area once used as a model yacht pond in Skegness is on the way to a new life as a more modern form of entertainment as a go kart track.

Work recently began at the site, at Tower Esplanade, close to the entrance of Bottons pleasure beach.

The site was most recently home to the Little Rascals children’s play area, and once complete will feature a raised bridge, 14 floodlights, and a roof terrace with provision for a retractable canopy which will act as a ‘working pit lane’.

This area will have large TV monitors screening the rules and regulations of the track.

The family themed race circuit will also boast an indoor seating area and a licensed American themed diner, which will be built on the first floor of the building and will over-look the track; providing a seating area for onlooking spectators with views over the Skegness foreshore.

Mr Remblance, owner of the site said: “The venue will offer something unique to the area, all children like to drive and the track will offer them that experience.

“Children will be able to choose from single and double seated Karts so that they can also ride with their parents and the emphasis is more on family themed fun, than the feel of a race track,” he continued.

Completion is planned for around the May Bank Holiday.
