AN INGOLDMELLS man’s love of trains has resulted in a boost to the coffers of a local steam railway.
Christine Davis, whose husband Paul passed away recently, has presented the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway in Ludborough with donations collected at his funeral service.
“Paul had a real passion for steam locomotives and wherever we went on holiday the first place we would head for was the nearest preserved railway”, said Christine.
“We visited the Lincolnshire Wolds line regularly with the grandchildren and it was Paul’s wish that when he passed away the collection at his funeral should be given to the railway he loved”.
Christine journeyed with her family to Ludborough station to make the presentation to Lincolnshire Wolds Railway’s managing director, Frank Street.
“We would like to thank all the family and friends of Christine and Paul for their kind donations, which will be invaluable in our endeavours to extend the line,” added Mr Street.
