Charitable bankers saddled up to raise funds for mental health sufferers and their families while increasing awareness of their plight during a recent sponsored cycle ride at their Skegness branch.

Around nine staff at Lloyds TSB’s Lumley Road branch took turns on an exercise bike, covering 100 miles - the equivalent distance to their Norwich head office.

The event raised £184 for the Alzheimer’s Society, through donations on the day, which Lloyds will double as the bank’s chosen charity.

“It’s a fantastic cause,” said the bank’s Lisa Dawson.

“Dementia and Alzheimer’s affects far more people than most would realise and we have several customers who have been hugely affected by its debilitating effects.”

Lisa has thanked the staff for their charitable efforts and her customers’ kind donations in support of the event.

The branch will be fundraising for charity again this Friday - this time through a coffee morning held in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research.

Staff will be baking cakes and serving teas and coffee during the morning of June 14 to help fight cancer.
