Chapel St Leonards beach plans announced
Plans to improve upon an already ‘beautiful’ stretch of beach and ‘one of East Lindsey’s finest assets’ have been announced by Chapel St Leonards Parish Council.
The council’s beach management committee is looking to reduce the 800 metre stretch of beach where dogs are prohibited to make it more enforceable in 2013.
Committee chairman Coun Terry Barrs said: “We welcome responsible dog owners and their pets to Chapel St Leonards but we are aware that many holidaymakers want to enjoy a beach that is free of dogs.
“Unfortunately, the current dog prohibition zone is too extensive for us to enforce properly, and many visitors who come to Chapel with their dogs find themselves unable to access the beach legally.”
By cutting the prohibition zone to 230 metres, the council hopes to create a space where dog walkers can legally visit and a more enforceable dog-free section between the central pullover at Sea Road and Sunningdale Steps.
