A PLAN to bring a former industrial unit back into use was backed by a council committee as it was a ‘pleasing sign’ for business in town.
Skegness Town Councillors discussed the application for the change of use and alteration of industrial unit formerly used by JLR James and Co in Victoria Road, Skegness at the Planning & Planning Policy Committee recently.
Coun George Saxon said: “It was pleasing sign that trade is coming back to the town.”
And Coun Mark Smith said in light of the plan, “It would bring employment and it should be fully supported.”
Coun Dick Edginton said: “It is good to see the place be brought back into use.
Coun Steve Kirk said about when it previously closed, “Jobs were lost when it closed and this is good to see.”
However, Coun Mark Anderson voiced some concerns over supporting the plan due to the fact that the applicant is seeking part retail usage at the site. He said the council should ‘be careful’ as he didn’t want this to affect the town centre.
The committee voted to support the application.
