Town Council vote for precept increase

News.

News.

Skegness councillors last night (Wednesday) voted in favour of inflationary changes to the town council’s portion of the Council tax, less any savings that can be made through efficiency.

The decision will keep services at the current level and maintain the level of investment in future schemes by contributing to the savings held in reserves.

The decision to increase the cost of the Town Council’s precept means that council tax has been increased by 10.3 percent, which equates to an increased cost of nine pence per week based on a band D property.

This means that the cost per year, again based on a band D property would increase from the £38.88p charged in 2013/14 to £43.35p per year in 2014/15.

However, because the majority of properties in the area are on lower bands, most residents will pay less than this.
