New figures released by hotel booking website Top10.com as part of their UK Staycation Report have shown that Skegness is among the cheapest places to stay this summer.

The report looked at the average price of a double bedroom for two nights at the height of summer in both destinations, then looked at the difference in hotel prices.

The company analysed prices from the top 10 hotels in the top 500 UK destinations.

The average price of a hotel in Skegness was £59.

The report puts Skegness at number 16 for the cheapest destinations for a hotel break in the UK this summer

A Top10.com spokesman said: ”Compared to London, staying in Skegness is a striking 79 percent cheaper than a summer stay in the capital and 77 percent cheaper than staying in a hotel in Sorrento on the southern coast of Italy for the same period.”

Skegness East Coast and Wolds Hospitality Association (SECWHA) chairman Nigel Tett, said: “Skegness and East Linconshire have historically been the holiday destination of the East Midlands and South Yorkshire industrial centres.

“We’ve always been proud to give the cheapest holidays and give customers the best value for money and over the years this has encouraged generations of people to
return.

“More than 80 percent of my hotel business this year is from returning holidaymakers and this forms the bedrock of running a profitable establishment - we must be doing something right.”

Coun Carl Macey, from East Lindsey District Council, said: “This is good news for Skegness.

“It shows local hotels and businesses are offering some of the best value deals in the UK for those looking for a staycation or to visit from further afield, Skegness is a wonderful place to live, work and visit with something for
everyone.

“Hopefully this news will raise the profile of our town.”
