Premier Inn has revealed it is in negotiations to open a hotel on the Pier Field site in Skegness

The Standard reported last week that East Lindsey District Council had been approached by a developer interested in bringing a national name to the resort.

Kevin Murray, senior acquisitions manager for Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, which owns Premier Inn, said: “We are pleased to confirm that we will be working on proposals with KCS Developments Ltd to bring a new Premier Inn to Skegness.

“This exciting new scheme will drive fresh new investment in Skegness and attract new visitors to the town, generating new business and boosting the local economy. The development would also create new jobs for the local area, around half of which would be offered to people who have been long term unemployed.

“Our plans are at an early stage and the detailed design is still being worked on. Once complete, our proposal will go through the formal planning process, in which we will ask for the views of local people to inform the hotel’s detailed design, before we submit our application to East Lindsey District Council.”
