The Batemans Brewery in Wainfleet is delighted after one of its beers won overall champion beer for the East Midlands at the recent Derby Beer Festival.

Judges from the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) voted the brewery’s Salem Porter as the top beer for the region.

It also took top Porter prize for the East Midlands in 2012.

The beer will now be entered into the Champion Beer of Britain competition, which will be held in London next month.

Stuart Bateman, Managing Director of Batemans Brewery, said: “This is an unbelievable achievement, especially with such fierce competition, we are all absolutely delighted.”

Batemans Salem Porter is a 4.7% dark ale full of fruit, nuts and spices fused with roasted grains to create a warm buttered toast and crunchy nut biscuit character.
