AUCTION operators in Skegness have announced 2011 to be its most successful year to date, with more sellers and buyers than ever before.
Turner Evans Stevens, which has operated a saleroom in the town for more than 50 years, has seen a record breaking 8,000 lots go under the hammer.
Auctioneer Jonathan Booth said: “I have witnessed a substantial increase in interest generated in the saleroom from both sellers and buyers, which has seen all 16 auctions this year being well attended.”
Interesting lots for auction this year included items from the estate of the eminent Skegness historian Winston Kime along with vintage slot machines, historic Skegness memorabilia and a wide range of antique ornaments and furniture.
Mr Booth is confident that auctions will continue to be successful in 2012 despite the uncertain economic conditions.
The first auction of 2012 is on Thursday January 19 and already includes an intriguing selection.
