The green light has been given for The Gunby Inn and Caravan Park to retain the new signage that it has installed outside the premises.
At an East Lindsey planning meeting, officers recommended that advertisement consent should be refused on the grounds that they created “clutter” and failed to reflect both the character of the original pub and the surrounding countryside.
An objection was as also lodged by Orby parish council, but committee members came down on the side of the applicants.
“It would be heavy-handed to refuse permission,” said vice-chairman Coun Steve O’Dare. “The signs have smartened up the business.”
Coun Dick Edginton agreed. as did committee chairman Coun Neil Cooper who additionally claimed the pub served “good quality” food.
Earlier the committee heard a presentation from licensee Paul Champion who said the business had been turned round since a change of ownership and now employed six local staff.
