STAFF at a food store in Alford did their bit for food producers in the developing world when they held a morning of fun activities to mark Fairtrade Fortnight.

The Fairtrade initiative aims to give food procuers a fair deal when selling their goods to major companies by giving them a fair price for their produce.

And the Co-op in the heart of Alford was one of dozens of Lincolnshire Co-operatives in the county to hold special activities on Saturday to raise awareness of this worthy cause.

Teams of staff were out and about at the various sites, including some who were dressed up for the occasion.

There were also prizes up for grabs when shoppers took a spin on the Fairtrade Wheel of Fortune, a kids trail for youngsters and the chance for customers to take their own step for Fairtrade and win a food hamper.

Free samples of Fairtrade food were also on offer.
