A COUPLE’S tireless efforts at Burgh le Marsh windmill have been recognised by the county in a ceremony in the town.
John and Margaret Clarke each received a Volunteer Service Award outside the windmill recently.
The presentation was in recognition of each having served as volunteers at the mill for the past 27 years.
Their certificates were presented by Lincolnshire County Council chairman, Coun Neil Cooper who hails from the area.
Coun Cooper said: “It’s all too easy to take the efforts of volunteers like John and Margaret for granted.
“For this reason, we’ve introduced these long-service awards to show just how much their hard work is appreciated.
“Volunteers play an important part at many of our heritage sites, helping provide additional activities that visitors value highly.
“I hope John and Margaret’s example will inspire others to come forward and help enhance services for our local communities.”
