PAST and present brownies from the 1st Wainfleet group got together to celebrate its 60th anniversary with an open evening, tea and cakes, bygone memories, and skilled methods of communication.

Former members, family and friends listened as girls sang some of their favourite songs and then performed happy birthday in semaphore - an old form of sending messages.

Some of the girls did their hostess badge and served refreshments and cakes to the visitors and they ran a tombola stall and raffle which boosted Brownie funds by £105 to buy a new flag. There was also a memorabillia stall with photos of how Brownies used to be.
