A project to restore a First World War railway wagon at an Ingoldmells visitor attraction will feature on TV in a bid to win National Lottery funding.

Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway is seeking the votes of ITV Calendar News viewers to secure £44,000 from The People’s Millions awards.

The restoration project will be featured on the regional news show on Tuesday, November 25.

Viewers vote for which of the competition entrants receive the cash awards of up to £50,000 .

The light railway will be competing against a bid to re-create a First World War trench at the Hull People’s Memorial Exhibition.

Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway hopes to secure funding to restore the wagon, used to service the trenches in the First World War and extend a platform providing access for wheelchair users and pushchairs.

Volunteer John Chappell said: “If we win the money, this will be a piece of working, living, breathing history that visitors will be able to experience for themselves.”
