South Yorkshire Police are warning people to be vigilant of doorstep callers collecting money for sponsorship on behalf of registered charities.

Those genuinely collecting for charity will be happy to show identification to verify their details, have appropriate paperwork and usually wear clothing displaying the charity logo.

Do not give money or banking details to doorstep callers who cannot provide these details. Always be cautious of anyone who turns up on your doorstep without an appointment.

To report any suspicious behaviour or activity, call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
