A live Santa and dog dressed as a reindeer helped one business beat off stiff competition in Spilsby’s recent Best Dressed Christmas Window Competition.
Turning Heads salon created the most festive yet innovative window display in December’s well entered competition.
Traditionally, the head boy and head girl from King Edward VI Academy go around the town and mark the entrants for their efforts and December’s competition was no exception.
The pair marked the businesses, shops and entrants within four different categories and Turning Heads unisex salon and tanning room were selected as the winners.
“The window was dressed with a Christmas tree, decorated with sachets of conditioner and hair clips,” said Rebecca Banham stylist at the salon.
“A customer even dressed as Santa in the window and took with him his pet dog; it was great,” she added.
The salon, which enters every year, says it’s delighted to be the winner and proprietor Sarah James is said to be ‘very pleased’.
And the Mayor of Spilsby Coun Peter Grant was also delighted with the positive response the competition received with nearly all of the businesses in town taking part.
“We are pleased with the selection and a lot of businesses worked really hard this year,” said Mayor Grant, speaking on Monday.
The competition has been running for many years now with a slightly changed format and the shield for the best dressed window was presented for the fourth year to the salon.
“We thought the use of the live Santa and dog was really innovative and we’re looking forward to next year,” added Mayor Grant.
